Youth Group

What is May 17?

In an effort to give our youth a voice and allow them to take ownership of their faith in practice,

Saint John is re-establishing its dynamic Youth Group Program beginning with High School Students in Grades 9-12.

This program aims to create an environment which leads high school students into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and His church.

This mission will be accomplished in three ways:

  1. Through the celebration of the Eucharist
  2. Through the teachings of Christ and the Church
  3. Through an experience of being loved and accepted

With Christ in the Eucharist as our center we aim to address the social, emotional, spiritual and educational needs of our youth.

We plan to do these things by selecting one Mass where teens will worship together and participate in the Liturgy then gather together for youth night following the Mass.

The nights will focus on Catholic Church teachings, relationship with God and issues (social and moral) that teens are facing.

All nights will be presented from a Catholic point of view.

Currently our team consists of:  Father Michael, our Pastor

Daphny Keel, Director of Religious Education.

Dr. T.M. Wallace, Parishioner and Psychologist, (CEO of Community Counseling Solutions LLC)

Mario Gilles

Mary Virginia Fant (Founder of the Third Order of Our Lady of Mercy in Georgia and the Hispanic Community at St. John)

Sheila Appling, Parish Council and former Life Teen Youth Director

We plan to add more people to the Core Team and if any of you are interested please see me following this Mass.

Parents! We will need your help and support!

We will be having a series of Socials whereby our teens can get to know one another and bond as they continue their journey in Christ.

The unveiling begins on May 17th

Sign up sheets are available in the back of the church.

Thank You!

Our contact information will be in next week’s bulletin.
